"You Hungry? Let's Not Eat"
The subject of this post is a very normal, very nice person. Which makes having to add him to the blog a bit sad (however we both ended up happily ever after, with different spouses of course).
Now, the conventional, comfortable first/second date venue, at least here, is to go to a coffee shop, drinks on him of course, and talk. That's usually the basic formula, give or take creativity (ha!) on his part. Today, most coffee shops boast a not-too-shabby menu of yummy sandwiches and stuff to choose from to eat, not just drink. Even "Waffle Bar" offers lunch meals besides their primary waffle and dessert variations. But still, let's not forget, a first date, especially in Israel, rarely means dinner. After all, he took you a coffee shop, not a restaurant right?
Well what happens when he takes you to a restaurant?
What happens when he takes you to a restaurant in the evening, around dinner time? The logic here is that he is taking you out to dinner, right?
(Just to clarify, this guy was half "Anglo" so no "Israeli-mentality" crap about him not knowing date etiquette)
Ladies, the following tip will save you A LOT OF EMBARRASSMENT! It may seem obvious to some, but given the setting described above, I had to learn this lesson.
The waitress came over and he told me to order. BIG MISTAKE!!! NEVER ORDER BEFORE HIM!!! I ordered, again, it was dinner time and I was kind of hungry, I think fettucini alfredo or something like that. He ordered, are you ready? Get this: he ordered A DRINK!
Need I say more? I mean, seriously, AWKWARD!!!!
